Construction on West Circle
Boy oh boy, it seems like there is always something going on with construction on campus. Last year it was the street in front of Olin Health Center, Berkey, and OHB (Old Horticulture Building) and this year it’s West Circle. They area actually going to be working on it over the summer as well. The good news is that no one will be on north campus living in the West Circle Neighborhood so it...

Stay Safe, Stay Healthy
It is unfortunate for me to say but a student died on Feb. 9th at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing a few hours after being taken there from Snyder-Phillips Hall on campus. The current cause of death is unknown but they are guessing it is from a contagious bacterial disease. They sent out an email to all students on campus and here is some of what it said:
On late evening Feb. 9, a 19-year-old...

Weekend Update
So I had my first french test last Thursday. I was really worried before taking it. There are a lot of rule exceptions in what we’re learning now and that kind of had me a little paranoid. The way I studied was different then how I’ve ever done for any other test. I haven’t been copying the lesson out of the book and taking notes on it liked I did last semester; I’ve just...

Internships and Fighting the Cold
The weather has officially hit winter weather. We had snow on the ground for most of the week. There were still some abnormalities with some April weather with rain and it was close to 45 degrees outside but for the most part its staying cold and cold enough for snow to continue dropping. Another huge sign that winter is finally here is that the Red Cedar River has ice along its banks now. There...

lasheevans asked: Hello:) I'm going to be a freshman at MSU this fall and I wondering, what is the best residence hall? I'll be majoring in Natural Science and Zoology, so I'd like to have a dorm near my classes. I was offered a chance to live in MSU's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design residence hall but I don't know anything about it? Do you have any idea what It's like?...

Ice Ice Baby
Well my friends and readers, it is that time of the year again for the snow and the ice to hit campus. Yesterday it snowed basically all day. The snow isn’t really the issue, the issue is the ice that builds up underneath. It wouldn’t be so bad but like last year they’re relying on the sun to melt most of the ice on the sidewalks that aren’t directly by buildings. So there...

New Classes, New Schedule
Well, week one of the Spring Semester is over. It went relatively fast too. There are huge differences between this semester and all the other semesters I’ve been at MSU. The similarity is that I’ve enjoyed them all and learned from them. Now that the week is over, I’ve gotten a small a taste of how the rest of the semester is going to go. It’s going to be busy and a little...

A New Year & New Semester
It’s been a rough start to the new year. New Year’s Day I went to my 2nd cousin’s house (she was the flower girl at my grandparent’s wedding) and spent the day with her. I’m really glad that we did go to see her because two days later she had a heart attack. If her boss hadn’t called 911 she probably would be dead. Today she had an intended triple but turned...

Week One of Break
It truly amazes me how fast time is going. The first week is basically complete and I am really happy it is. I got a wisdom tooth pulled out Wednesday and I’ve never experienced anything like that in my life. The stupid tooth surgeon couldn’t successfully find a vain to use. He stuck a needle in my hand twice and told me he couldn’t keep in it there. No other doctor or nurses aid...

I Scream, You Scream, We all Scream for Finals
It amazes me how fast this semester has come to a close. It feels like it really just started and that is crazy. It is, of course, that time of the year that we all love. Finals are officially in full effect for everyone. Two of my finals are already done and I only have one left. I had one Monday at 12:45pm til 2:45pm for my ISB class and I had one yesterday at 10am til 12pm. My last one is...

A Time for Giving & Studying
My finals have officially started even though they are supposed to until next week. I had my French Oral exam on Monday and I had my French Listening exam yesterday. Today we did a final review today over everything that we’ve covered this semester. I got 100% on my oral exam which I was really shocked about. She said I did really good on it but I did make a couple mistakes. I’m glad I...

Time Flies When You're Busy
I know November I was seriously slacking on the blogging and I hate that I did and I am sorry about it. I feel like I say that a lot. I’m seriously trying to reorganize and schedule my life better so that my time is spent more wisely. I feel like that because October was so bad, November just got so busy I didn’t have time for anything besides school.
My Thanksgiving was ok. It was...

First REAL Snow
Well ladies and gents, we got our first “real” MSU snow. The other snow we got was nothing compared to what we got yesterday. It was crazy how bad out it got. Luckily, I was back in my dorm before it started snowing horribly. I only made it back by a sliver though. It wouldn’t have been so bad if there wasn’t already water on the ground. Because there was though, a nice...

cutintostars asked: Hey! I was wondering about some of the clubs that MSU offer. I saw that there's a "Quidditch Club" there. Have you heard a lot about it? What's it like?
Anonymous asked: Hi! Love your blog! I am thinking about applying to MSU, but I am so nervous to go to college! Especially an out of state one. My question is how long did it take for you take make friends? Where did you meet them? That is my biggest worry. I am a pretty friendly person, and I'm "nerdy" I suppose. I'm so nervous i'm not going to find people I get along with. Also, how much...

A Full Year Blogging
It has been officially 1 year and a month since I started blogging. I have grown and learned so much. I’m so grateful to be able to help prospective students and incoming students have their questions answered so that they are a little less nervous when they get here. College is a big step and this blog definitely helped me adjust and so did you guys. I just wanted to say thank you and I...

October's Come and Almost Gone
Well, I’m hoping this week is better than last week. I’ve been feeling down lately and last week just intensified that feeling. It’s really weird because school is going so well and I’m so proud of myself because of it. It’s weird being down for no reason. Although it’s happened before, I just got so much bad news last week and have felt so overwhelmed by that,...

Playing Catch Up
First of all, I would like to apologize for my lack of blogging last week. Time just started getting away from me. Last week just got so busy so fast. So let me fill you in. On Monday, I had my first ISB test. It went ok, it could have been better but it could have been a lot worse as well. The professor who does the lectures for the class was out of town at a conference so he planned it so that...

MSU Beats U of M...again!!! →
I don’t know if any of you recall but last year I posted this exact same thing! This is four years in a row for us keeping the Paul Bunyan Trophy! It was an amazing game. Tickets for the MSU vs U of M game go super fast, unless you have season tickets, it’s almost impossible to get a student ticket for $30. You can but the ones they see for $75 the week before though. If you wait until...

Anonymous asked: Hello, thank you for sharing your life at MSU. I am applying for entrance next year and would like to know more about housing. Are there "freshman dorms" reserved for freshman only, or are they exclusively located in one campus area or spread out over campus? Would you have a list of the dorms where freshman are usually assigned? I am biracial, grew up in Europe, and feeling a bit...

Racial Slurs and Discrimination on Campus
Lately there has been an increasing amount of racial incidents on campus. Starting last month, an individual wrote “No Niggers Please” on a females dry erase board in West Akers. A few days later, there was another incident in Butterfield Hall (on the other side of campus). Most recently, there were reports and pictures of a black doll hanging with a green bead necklace noose around...

Cheddar's and a New Printer
My printer problems are no longer here. I no longer have to go to a computer lab to print papers, even though I probably will because I have the e-tokens to. My mom came up and we went printer shopping! The printer that I got is from Best Buy and it’s an HP. It’s a super expensive printer but it was $70 off! It’s crazy we got that for cheaper than the other one we planned on...

The Leaves Falling, October Starting
So the fall season is finally in full affect. Fall is my favorite season on campus. It’s perfect hoodie weather and still where some summer clothes. The leaves are actually starting to fall and change colors and it looks gorgeous all over campus. This is the first week(starting Monday) of fall housing sign up for next school year (Fall 2012-Spring 2013). You can sign up to keep your same...

Library Steamer
Another long day of studying with my study group. Study groups are really effective if you want to ensure that you get a lot done. I did my paper today during my study group. I’m not sure why but for some reason I was just not into doing it at all. I had to fight with myself tooth and nail to get it done. BUT it is done. I’m not sure if I really like everything about it and I may need...

Free Ice Cream and Studying
It’s a wonderful combination. An even better combination is FREE ice cream and studying. I was studying at Wilson Hall with two of my friends (one of which is a Mentor there) and while we were studying, a whole bunch of the mentors came down carrying a bunch of ice cream from the MSU Dairy Store. We didn’t know what it was for so we didn’t want to take any. Of course, they...

Interview Friday
I’m all done with classes for the week! I still have loads of stuff to do though. I need to finish/edit my notes for my ISS class because the test is next Wednesday and I have to make sure I’m ready. I have to transfer a page of ISB notes because I wrote in the wrong notebook one day last week. I need to make french flash cards and do my online homework. I also have to start my essay...
